Next we need to create a driver for your scanner that is 64 bit compatible. Install the software on your 64 bit Windows 7 or Windows 8. To get started download Nikon Scan 4.03 for Windows Vista 32 bit. **I used these instructions to get my Coolscan V ED working on Windows 10 and it seems to working well - maybe it will also work on W7 - Had to follow the instructions very carefully - Good Luck, Lucy**

As I say, out of choice I am using the V ED with Nikon scan software. I prefer the images using Nikon 4.02 software but Vuescan does a fair job. This is rather slow in comparison with Vuescan which I run in Mojave. With XP Pro I am able to use the Coolscan V ED with 100% success. I have Parallels Desktop on both my iMac (2015) and MacBook Pro (2017) and run both Windows 10 Pro and XP Pro. I have both the IV (due on eBay soon) and recently found a V ED on eBay which works well.

Can you advise me please as to how you are getting VueScan to work for you regarding my 2 issues above? 2nd question: does VueScan end up being the only software that will show up in my Photoshop>Import dropdown menu? Mahalo.
Nikon scan for vista 64 how to#
I once found a tutorial on how to make the 4000 work with W7 but it's no longer live on the Adobe Forum so I can't download the author's links anymore. I have a CoolScan 4 also which I run thru an older computer on Windows XP - trying to make the scanner work with Windows 7 - but in trying out VueScan, I don't see the option to do multiple scans and I can't get it to scan at 4000 DPI like I did with NikonScan.
